The Kunming Tiger

Nobody ever gave the Kunming Tiger a name. He may be happy with that. He doesn’t care much what people do, or what they call him.

The largest tiger in China, or the world, he is white with black stripes. He lives in a fortress on the north shore of Lake Dian in Kunming. The fortress is clearly visible from the lake. The Kunming Tiger thus figures that anyone swimming in the lake would know to get his permission first.

When the Dragon of Chungking refuses to acknowledge his prerogatives, the Tiger is willing to go to war to demand an apology. This puts his housekeeper in a bind and threatens the balance of nature in eastern China.
